The message on the smoke

Today, I am very proud of myself.

Sometimes, I don’t really know what I am afraid of, what have prevented me from doing what is so called the common sense thing.

What will you do if you see someone is burning a pile of trash in your neighbourhood?

This evening, as usual I walked from where I got down from bus to my house. I saw this lady, with a primary school kid, was lighting up a fire to burn the pile of trash in the garden of the secondary school. Before I reacted, I keep on walking, passing by the school, until I realized that the feeling in me is so strong, my conscious keep telling me, please do something. There were a lot of sounds and conversation in me, which I am not clear what I am struggling on, but somehow, I turn around, and walked to the school. Well, what happened next in the school is just what you can imagine. I told her that I can make a report on the open burning, told her that I am very concern of myself, and all of us, living on this environment.

A sense of relieved overwhelmed me after doing something on this matter. Not sure how will it change, but that is a good start, for me and for the community. A smile in my heart, and says: Thank you my dear, good effort, and let’s carry on.

Sometimes, we know very well what we should and should not, but still we cannot practice these common sense that we already have. Tal-Ben Shahar in his lecture in positive psychology said we should look deeper into ourselves, to see what have limited us from practicing what we have known.
And my friend was right, sometimes, you just need to have enough faith and believe.
I believe that I can do something, to change. In this interdependent world, we need more positive effort, to affect, to interact. Why? For the well being of myself, the people I loved, and for all livings on earth.

Well, I truly believe so.=)
